  • Dear Mr. Bang Bang,

How's War Robots and Pixonic going over there? Going good here in World Of Tanks with Wargaming.

    From yours truly,

    A-20

      Loading editor
    • I’m fine with WoT...doing well for myself.

As for WR, it’s less well, due to the workshop changes and exorbitant production times and costs for component conversion.

I’m still able to get an Invader...and long term I should be able to get a Bulwark in several months ._.

The situation is far from ideal and isn’t what I was expecting/hoping for, but it’s less bad than it sounds.

        Loading editor
    • Less Ideal present than I was hoping with WS 2.0...

It sounded ground-breaking but I'm thinking Pixonic is making excuses for removing silver robots.

Wargaming on the other hand, receiving a lot of controversy but very stable in the meanwhile compared to Pixo.

        Loading editor
    • I agree.

        Loading editor
    • I'm feeling that in the next decade Wargaming will start getting players immigrating from WWR :|

Wargaming gets its funds from premium content, which is already enough for Wargaming. Did you hear that they participate in saving the USS Texas?

        Loading editor
    • Did they? If so, well done to them.

I still don’t want to pay for free games, but I must say that I’ve never really disagreed with any changes that Wargaming has made to their games, and would trust them with my money more than with Pix.

Sure, you can get better tanks by paying, but they’re not nearly as OP as the ones in WR are.

Plus, due to you needing experience AND silver to get new tanks, it’s a play to win game that is largely pay to win proof

        Loading editor
    • Yeah, thats the upside that I really like. It also doesn't need a proper gaming platform (Only needs a normal Laptop's specs to run). It also occupies you time because grinding (and battles that could last u to 15 minutes). The graphics engine is also very proper. See this image (BigWorld, original GE) vs this one (New GE) if you don't know what I'm talking about.

WWR Needs a Android Enumerator, which requires a powerful platform. Otherwise, Ipad is needed.

Overall imo, WoT is more enjoyable and less frustrating than WWR.

        Loading editor
    • Oh, and the USS Texas project?

That was named Project Valor. Mission: Raise money to repair the USS Texas. See this video for more info ;)

        Loading editor
    • Ok...at least Wargaming actually contributes to real society and isn’t greedy :)

        Loading editor
    • They also listen to player feedback on common test clients.

Currently, they are working on the wheeled vehicles lines, Italian TDs, new maps, and optimization for low specs gamers.

They use some of the funds for game improvements, etc. the new graphics engine (Encore)

        Loading editor
    • Italian tank lines would be cool, although useless.

Wheeled vehicles would be fast but less heavily armed and armoured than tanks

        Loading editor
    • Heres the thing:

      Wheeled vehicles can:

      -Make long jumps without immobolizing

      -Very hard to immobolize

-Can enter travel and rapid mode (Travel allows high speeds but limits left and right. Rapid mode allows tight circles but limits speed)

      -Intended for active scouting

      Sounds overpowered but:

      -Paper armor

-Easy to destroy wheels (The more wheels destroyed, less mobility. If turning wheels, harder to turn)

        Loading editor
    • Essentially wheeled vehicles would be destroyed in 1-2 shots, as most of them have thin or aluminium armour.

The heavily armoured ones, such as the Boxer, would be more adequate but lack sufficient armament.

        Loading editor
    • But then again, the wheeled vehicles are suited for active scouting

A repair kit would repair all wheels, both large and small

        Loading editor
    • Scouting is actually much more complicated in WoT. You have to scout the enemy positions, probably be spotted, retreat like mad back behind cover whilst avoiding enemy fire, then indicate the sector in which the enemy is in, wait for the tanks to come over, by which time you’ll probably be dead or have to run away again.

        Loading editor
    • Theres a difference between Passive, Semi-Passive, and Active scouting.

-Passive scouting is when you take a position (Behind a bush) in where you can spot the enemy without getting spotted yourself (Which means not firing). Typically, it requires patience, high camo values, and a good view range. Passive scouting takes place in open area maps with fields, nature, etc and not towns and cities.

-Semi-Passive scouting is when you run towards a probable enemy position and once you light them up, you then dash towards cover, using speed to avoid damage. Again, no firing. This is sometimes called yolo-scouting.

-Active scouting is when you light them up and start firing, again using speed to avoid taking damage. Sometimes, you dash to cover, but in some cases, the active scout hangs around before going somewhere else.

        Loading editor
    • passive scouting is very effective. it hurts too.

And i still hate the current balance of what was formerly premium ammunition in the game. Spend more for rounds which are pretty much just better, though i can handle HEAT rounds because tracks are spaced armor lul

at the very least they should give you a big bonus for bouncing a gold round - especially from a tank 3 tiers above you.

also, you can play WR on your phone. That's what I do

get on my level scrubs :P

and i suck at scouting :D

italian line is useful because they use prototypes/drafts (vehicles that were never produced), and also italian SPGs - which will be the TDs - were actually half decent.

        Loading editor
    • Pershing :P

        Loading editor
    • The point is, wheeled vehicles will fail

        Loading editor
    • Well, its still being tested in the common test server client.

So far, the first nation with the wheeled vehicles will be France. That nation, according to developers, had a long affair with armored cars. Especially the FL 30(?), which was used until 1970. Some nations still use the FL 30.

        Loading editor
    • The Panhard armoured cars might be more successful, as the Panhard cars had 25mm and then 60mm guns.

As for British armoured cars, the only 2 I can think of (that are semi-useful) are the Marmon-Herrington, armed with a 2pdr gun and the Saladin, which has 6 wheels and a 76mm.

        Loading editor
    • Wargaming is still researching on other armored cars, but they have researched enough French armored cars for a whole branch.

      Spoiler alert:

Some tanks in the game are made up:

      -Conquer Gun Carriage

      -Waffentragor E100 (Partly)

      -Foch B (?)

      -BatChat 25t AP

-BatChat 25t (It never had a 105mm autoloader!)

        Loading editor
    • the Waffletractor E100, also known as the WTF E100

impenetrable hull, paper thin turret, and an autoloading gun that could decimate entire lanes of tier tens :D

also, what did you mean about the pershing?

        Loading editor
    • Oh wait, *Super* Pershing

      My bad :|

      Spaced armor :P

        Loading editor
    • you mean the T26E4, tier 8 with the added armor on the front?

shoot APCR, or target the weak points - i mostly shoot the little weak points on the bottom sides of the turrets, or just flank it, or just shoot through it all anyway

        Loading editor
    • The spaced armor on the turret is somewhat annoying. Thicker than the hull add-on armor

        Loading editor
    • I know that ERA and Bar/slat armour protects against most HEAT rounds, but I have a few questions?

      1. Does ERA and Bar armour protect against APFSDS rounds? (probably not, but not sure)

      2. Does Spaced armour protect against APFSDS rounds? (If not, what does it protect from)

The tank with the best armour in my opinion is the Challenger 2, it is immune to literally everything short of a Paveway IV bomb hitting it.

        Loading editor
    • ERA can sort of protect from APFSDS, but not as effectively as most forms of armor

spaced armor protects a little bit against everything, in particular HEAT rounds because they detonate early and thus the jet dissipates. They also mean that a round which is designed to punch through armor might blunt itself and be less effective at penetrating the next bit of armor, etc

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spaced_armour

Also, ERA only protects against HEAT once over an area, spaced armor tends to maintain its integrity somewhat better.

    • World Of Tanks is starting to catch up with War Thunder

      I'm suprised o-o

        Loading editor
    • WoT is better at being an arcade tank game

War Thunder is better with the realism, and has more modern stuff.

        Loading editor
    • Only thing is physics that War Thunde needs to work on

      Dear Winston Churchill,

The AT 8 is a very good tank. 920,000 credits spent and is worthwhile!

      From yours truly,

      Strv S1

        Loading editor
    • War Thunder also needs to work on the needing to relearn how to repair tanks every single time thing

        Loading editor
    • So this happened:

      Shot 013

      AT Battalion!

        Loading editor
    • i did something like that once...

Vk 100.01, sat around for half the match, then just went straight across the field without being spotted

        Loading editor
    • Lol...how weren’t you noticed?

        Loading editor
    • most of their team was fighting on the hill, and the ones who weren't were behind cover because we had a rather effective scout who kept spotting them when they weren't

so i they didn't notice me until i came around a rock right next to their base :D

        Loading editor
    • Well idk

But when we got to H1, we got bombarded by gold rounds and artillery >.<

The leading AT 7 was the first to die. I was the second one to die (I drove in front of the second AT 7). The Last AT 7 escaped with 8 hp, lol

        Loading editor
    • @Alias

      But weren’t you outnumbered?

        Loading editor
    • there was a Tiger, a Scorpion, and then the people who came down the hill one by one to face me

the Scorpion hurt, but most of the other tanks were too weak to be a serious threat

        Loading editor
    • A Scorpion?

The British CRVT with a 76mm?

        Loading editor
    • No, American.

Its an american TD with a 90mm gun. It was occasinally used as artillery support during the Vietnam War. Entirly open and has no armor. You can even see its ammo stowage and the gun breach.

But no crew members are seen. HMMMMMMMMMMM...?

        Loading editor
    • that's because only war thunder shows the people

though they have comparable armor - Brit scorpion's got aluminum, US scorpion's got basically nothing.

        Loading editor
    • Brit Skorp > US Skorp?

        Loading editor
    • not really, as they have very different tasks. so saying one is better doesn't really mean anything

        Loading editor
    • -*Google searches british skorpian*

      Oh, the FV-101 light tank

        Loading editor
    • They both have different roles. The British Scorpion is better suited to marshy/hilly terrain and for scouting, skirmishes etc.

The US Scorpion was meant to be a TD but was a bit of a failure (The Ontos vehicle was better in my opinion, despite being equally radical).

Interesting Fact: Scorpions and Scimitars were the only armoured vehicles able to navigate through the tough terrain on the Falkland Islands in the war against Argentina in the early 80s to repel the illegal invasion.

    • I now have the ARL 44 after grinding to get the turret that doesn’t look like a garden shed. I mean seriously, the default turret looks as if they took the KV-2’s turret and made it even larger.

      Also, this happened yesterday:

I was using my Churchill VII along with 2 teammates using KV-1s tanks and we were advancing together, with the rest of our teammates on the other side of the map. Then we reach an area with several barricades ideal for hull down positions. The moment we do that, we are ambushed by the entire enemy team (who were using a T-43, a T-34/85, an IS, a Hellcat, a German VK 30H tank, a Churchill VII and a Sherman Firefly).

We survived for half the game in a 3 vs 7 situation and inflicted heavy damage on all of them, killing the Hellcat, T-43 and Sherman Firefly before our stupid teammates finally arrived and helped us kill the rest. We won 7-1...how???

        Loading editor
    • Thats World Of Tanks for you :P

There was one situation where I was alone on a flank. I was behind a rock with my gun exposed. I was using my KV-2 and there was a TOG II, O-Ni, and O-I exp. I managed to scare the O-Ni away, kill the O-I, and deter the TOG II from going further. The only thing that was annoying me was the G.W. Panther. By the time the team capped, I was down to 11 hp. The TOG poked around and tracked for the Jackson that was sniping.

There was an M4 that poked out on my right and I backed into cover when I saw him. Team capped out as soon as I did.

Total damage: Over 2000 (Only HE) :D

    • 2K DAMAGE WITH....HIGH EXPLOSIVE?

      You must have great aim.

French tanks are a bit all over the place unfortunately

        Loading editor
    • actually, depending on the tier you don't need good aim

KV-2 or Hetzer, for example, can easily dominate with HE.

Hetzer doesn't tend to deal much over 1000 though

        Loading editor
    • I used Hetzer, hated it. I don’t like non-turret TDS

        Loading editor
    • Hetzer is awesome

one of the best traverse speeds for a TD, makes up for the turretlessness, and great frontal armor

I think the reload time for Hetzer there with the 105mm is 15-20 secondish.

In WoT, Hetzer is just amazing, as Alias said.

        Loading editor
    • Try contacting support.

If the client refueses to launch/update, go to settings, and then do an integrity check.

The probable reason why it happens is because you cutting the data stream of the files after you close out the game. Usually when I turn off my computer, I make sure the client is not running. You can do that by right clicking the taskbar, opening task manager, and stopping programs there.

Also make sure that when you update, you don't cut the stream of data.

        Loading editor

Lion and I just chatted about that on Discord.

But from now on we can use the admin/mod only templates to hide everything on the wiki (the template is on my wall and profile page)

    • Only thing that annoys me is that whenever I try to sidescrap with the enemy on the right, that machine gun/AA miniturret is always the one part they try to shoot when I try and hide the front turret armor (Which is another weakspot)

    • i have an alternative tactic when i am faced with a 1R that dares to challenge me

i place a round right through the thickest armor i can find :P

or i go for the flanks. Flanks are nice.

        Loading editor
    • Whenever I face a bottom tier match, I drive away from the main action and go for a flank

G1 R mobility is quite nice after you get the engine upgrade.

        Loading editor
    • I'm actually talking about tanks just a tier higher than you, usually

G1R's armor isn't much to them

at tier, if i can't reliably penetrate you head on, then i'm not going to engage you head on

        Loading editor
    • I used a G1 before the ARL 44...found it to be a great combination of speed, firepower and armour. Its only weakness is its size.

The ARL 44 is crap...too slow to justify the large size and poor armour, and the DCA 30 is often bounced by IS tanks.

        Loading editor
    • ARL also loses the ability the sidescrap and has almost the same armor as the G1 R. Angled front armor but unreliable in most cases >.<

And yeah, the G1 R is that true balenced tank. Good example of a medium tank. Also because its a medium, I often get excused for not joining the main action because I'm a medium .-.

        Loading editor
    • The G1 is great as a hit and run sniper...as the long reload of the DCA 30 can be a weakness in brawling. Fire support is also another role.

Mostly because of the HP pools you meet. Take the T95. You can use your armor, or tank your HP. In other words, using your own HP to absorb damage.

    • I now have the 7.5cm Waffe :D

One of my favourite tactics is to ram enemy tanks. I drove off a steep ‘cliff’ on canyon, nearly died but landed on an enemy tank and killed it XD

Another time I rammed an AMX 12t and 1 shotted it

        Loading editor
    • I started out with the top gun for the Vk 28.01, because I went through the med line first :D

Vk is a tough tank, can even be played like a medium, excellent mobility and ramming ability too. But then the Sp IC loses all the armor, weight, and speed .-.

      for a bigger gun.

Also, I highly recommend the Swedish medium line. Thin armor, but extremely well angled, good camo, and accurate guns

        Loading editor
    • Yeah...the SP IC is suspiciously like the French AMX 12t and 13t...

      HMMMMM......

WAS IT THE FRENCH WHO DESIGNED IT???

Unfortunately, you can’t get Swedish tanks in blitz :(

        Loading editor
    • Well, they could work on the light-medium-heavy line

But making the TD line will be harder.

        Loading editor
    • Its not the tier II-VII TDs.

Its the VIII-X TDs. The reason is their way that they do gunnery and travel.

Here, there a thing called siege and travel mode. Default hotkey is X.

Travel mode = great mobility + equal fowards/backwards speed - very bad gun handeling

Siege mode = great gun handeling + great elevation/depression + no deactivation of certian equipment when traversing - bad mobility (both traverse and fowards/backwards movement)

        Loading editor

        Loading editor
    • I started with the German line, I remember well...

For the Maus line - Pz IV and IV H are basically the same, Vk 30.01 is completely unique, and then the Tiger (P) and up share similar qualities, though the Tiger has a weak turret

basically, hide your lower glacis plate and your cupola, and maybe angle your turret to prevent them from penetrating the cheeks.

Also, BB - does blitz have two French heavy lines, or just the autoloaders?

        Loading editor
    • oh, also there was the recent event where long-time players got rewards

unfortunaely, i joined just slightly too late for the 4 year group -.-

        Loading editor
    • Well, Blitz recently was revamped so until Tier III-IV there is only 1 line of tanks.

From then onwards in the French lines, you have the S35 CA Tank Destroyer line, the BDR G1 Heavy Line, and the AMX ELC Bis Light tank line (auto loader).

I have the ARL 44 and have researched the AMX 12t (only 50k silver to go)

        Loading editor
    • jeez, blitz sucks...

        Loading editor
    • You used to have at least 4 (in the case of the Germans and USSR, more) lines from Tier II onwards.

      France had these lines:

      FT -> D1 -> D2 -> B1 -> BDR G1 -> ARL 44 -> AMX M4 45 -> etc

      FT -> R35 -> AMX 38 -> AMX 40 -> AMX ELC Bis -> AMX 12t -> etc

      FT -> FT AC -> UE 57 -> SaU 40 -> S35 CA -> etc

Now the FT, D1, FT AC, UE 57, SaU 40 and AMX 40 are non-existent

        Loading editor
    • In WoT, all lines split on tier 2.

Plus, there were alternatives to the R35 and D1, which remerged slighlty later on (can't remember the exact locations), and artillery

        Loading editor
    • Artillery doesn’t really exist in Blitz...might be part of the TD line, since there are a few howitzers there.

As for the alternatives, I think that the H35 and FCM 36 were there?

In Blitz the AMX 38 is basically a rebranded FCM 36, they both look exactly the same.

        Loading editor
    • something like that

and no, artillery isn't merged into the TD line. SPGs have a view type all to themselves, and a firing arc all to themselves, etcetera.

Once upgraded it’s strong points include:

-Good firepower and penetration as well as a high rate of fire for a heavy

      -Good speed

      Weak points:

-Non-existent armour on the sides and rear

-Traverse speed is average (though can be improved via mods)

        Loading editor
    • The ARL is good in a Tier VI battle, but it's trash against Tier VII and VIII tanks.

        Loading editor
    • *Profanity Removed*, LTG's ammo rack is weak

Everytime I expose my side towards fire, I risk getting my ammo damage or a explosion with no warning >.<

The 85mm it first uses is good though. Sub-par penetration but ferocious RoF.

I'm gonna need to research the suspension to mount a Wet Rack ._.

        Loading editor
    • i usually get a crew with safe stowage.

and really, it's not specifically the LTG, it's just light tanks in general. They're very cramped, so shots that penetrate you at all are likely to hit a variety of modules. I should know, I have a WZ-131

        Loading editor
    • Yeah, but the ammo rack is weaker than other light tanks ._.

      and sidescraping

    • Player Opinion

      Pros and Cons

      Pros:

-Very thick armor for Tier 9, although it's just a slight increase the from VK 100.01

-Highest HP of any Tier 9 Tank (2300), higher than many Tier 10 Heavies.

-Second heaviest tank in the game (Nearly 170 tons), extremely resistant to ramming

-Low chance of catching fire with top engine (12%)

-Painless stock grind; All of its modules don't need new suspension to support more weight, stock gun is decent for its tier, and only has one turret to be used. Similar to Japanese Super Heavies.

-Decent aiming time with top gun

      Cons:

-Very slow and large; main target for SPGs.

-Somewhat low rate of fire for its alpha

      -Flat side armor

      -Terrible traverse speed.

-Although huge cupola is thickly armored, it can be penetrated, especially when sidescraping

        Loading editor
    • spall liner, just  have to sidescrape on the opposite side as the Vk (which had a much worse cupola problem), only slightly worse t han the Vk stock for maneuvering

        Loading editor
    • What's the point of mounting the new engine and suspension when the only degrade the maneuverability whilst the stock suspension can support all the weight you can throw at it?

Imo, mobility will be more important when the battle progresses into the later stages

Edit: I'm reading values wrong again >.<

        Loading editor
    • The better engine would allow me to engage faster - currently anything uphill makes me half the speed of the Vk

The top gun would actually help because it's lighter

the Top suspension gives me +3 deg/sec turning - which is a boost of 25%. That's pretty significant

Turns slow AF, meaning I can potentially be flanked and destroyed by any tank - if they can get behind me, they might be able to get under my turret where I can't fire back and they can just kill me from behind

        Loading editor
    • Oh wait, I'm reading values wrong again >.<

        Loading editor
    • That's on and off in WoT - usually weekends

Black Prince has to commit to a side - much like Superheavies, but with less armor than them

But it has a reasonably fast firing and decent pen gun

a bit weak in depression terms, ridges are bad

corners can be rough - permatrack

      good armor

        Loading editor

I am currently grinding to get that new upgraded engine for my ARL 44...it’s already fast for a heavy and I can make it even faster (only 4K XP to go!).

It has very good and fast firing DCA 45 gun, frontal armour is decent but sides/rear is appallingly thin. Your link should help with this.

Once I get the new engine, I should have a ‘fast heavy’, and hopefully the slow traverse speed will improve

        Loading editor
    • ARL 44 stock turret in WoT PC is different

Stock turret here is basically a curvey turret and looks more of a prototype of the upgraded turret.

Over there is just a giant fridge on its side .-.

French tanks are generally not suited for sidescraping. Often (frequently or often, pick one), the side armor is too (tooooooooo) weak for auto bounce. Remember the 2 calibers rule (HE doesn't apply here)

      1. Angles cannot exceed 75* for AP and APCR while for HEAT is 85*. If this happens, an auto bounce will happen.

      2. If the Caliber of the opposing gun is 3x the thickness of the effective armor its going against, penetration will always happen.

You do not neeeeeeeeed to correct my grammeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrr --Defender (talk) "2Fast4U" 18:58, January 8, 2019 (UTC)

        Loading editor
    • Oh.

In that case...I guess I’ll stick to frontal armour

        Loading editor
    • Also, normalization

Normalization often happens with both AP and APCR. When hitting the armor, the shell angles itself by -5* to -10* from its original entry angle. Over the history, shell designers have designed shells to maximize normalization. For example. When a armor plate angled at 65*, the overall effective armor is doubled. Lets say: 188mm of effective armor. A shell with an average penetration of 198mm may bounce if it not normalized, but because it happens, it increases the chance for a penetration, which in turn, decreases the effective armor value when the caculation is made by the game engine.

        Loading editor
    • And mentioned above about French tanks, there are few exception tanks:

      -G1 R (Side skirts+Tracks=Spaced armor lul+main armor)

      -ARL 44 in some cases...

-AMX 65t can auto bouce shells because of 80mm of side armor (2 calibre rule :P)

-AMX 50 120 can also do some auto boucing, but can struggle because of the guns present at tier IX

-B1 (And its german counterpart) can do a better job at sidescraping that the Steel Potato :P

-AMX 40 can sidescrap normally as other heavy tanks can do (Quack :P)

        Loading editor
    • In Blitz, the AMX 65t doesn’t exist >_<

And the BDR G1 doesn’t have spaced armour either >_<

I consider the ARL 44 to be in a special class of its own, as while it has great firepower and a high ROF, and good speed, it has paper thin armour (even the front armour is under-average).

However, (new topic) I don’t understand the criticism that the Churchill VII gets. Its armour is among the best in its tier (which is VI, tanks with similar protection include the KV-IS) and while it isn’t fast, neither are most heavies and it has a great ROF. Only problem is slightly lacklustre firepower (usually around 160 damage), which carries on into the Black Prince (although it is slightly improved with a 17pdr and an even higher ROF)

        Loading editor
    • People like to complain about the armament of the Churchill VII and Black Prince. 75mm/76mm guns are underpowered by the time a tank reaches VII and up, which are overshadowed by the 85mm, 88mm, 90mm, 100mm, 105mm, 120mm, 122mm, 130mm, 140mm, 145mm, 150mm, and 152mm.

And BDR doesn't have spaced armor. G1 R does.

        Loading editor
    • The 85mm on the T-34/85 is trash and has a slow ROF. What I do know is while the ROF on the 122mm and 152mm guns used on ubiquitous Soviet KV-IS, IS and KV-2 tanks is very slow, it hurts like hell (usually around 300-400 damage minimum, 900 if critical hit)

        Loading editor
    • I hate KV -2 i can never hit it

        Loading editor
    • In WoT, Churchill VII is considered one of the worst tanks at its tier, because it has to commit, has next to no gun depression, is terrible stock, can't handle hills, is easily tracked going around corners, suffers from tanks that are taller, can't handle HE or artillery at all.

    • USSR shall beat those German heavy tenks!

But seriously, the Tiger type designs of the German heavies are inefficient and outclassed by the 'Mericans, Russians, U.K, and even Japan with thier super heavies.

    • So what if they do not have sloping humor they still have that great firepower

    • LTTB is really fast.

I was once playing a match where an enemy LTTB was the last one, all my teammates camped at base and I spent around 2 minutes chasing the enemy LTTB in my Vk 28.01 lol.

It was quite fun, but he ended driving off a cliff and into the water...he drowned >_<

    • They're almost as annoying as Lycans. Not only are they everywhere, they're extremely difficult to hit and do a surprising amount of damage.

The hp/w ratio is gonna come in handy when traveling over rought terrian

The thing I like about light tanks is that they don't need to rely much on firepower

say that to an E-100's face

      I dare you

    • eeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

        Loading editor
    • Wait...I know Tiger tank designs are inefficient (no sloped armour on Tiger 1).

But I’m pretty sure Japanese tanks are worse. They might as well have no armour in mid tiers

        Loading editor
    • Tier IV and below. You wouldn't consider them as heavies by armor. Its not even paper.

I'd consider it as bread armor .-.

    • O-I exp is meh.

O-I and above, they have very serious armor.

85mm DT5 can't pen an O-I frontally. Weakpots are questionable.

        Loading editor
    • the subturrets and the sides are the weakspots

but even equal tier HTs and TDs struggle to pen them frontally. And aside from the Tiger I, all the Tiger tanks have pretty good armor, considering. The tier 6 tigers are only a little underarmored, and the Tiger P and II are extremely tough.

        Loading editor
    • The Tiger P's Side Turret armor is trash though.

        Loading editor
    • EVERY tank has poor armor on the turret sides

        Loading editor
    • Cough cough Churchill/Black Prince

Generally though, side armour is weaker, but not necessarily trash.

    • Does anyone thing non-turret TDs in WoT are obsolete?

      I nearly have an AT-2.

        Loading editor
    • I HAVE AN AT 2 NOW :D

Extra thicc armour is all I can say.

I’d really be grateful if you guys could comment on my blog on it:

        Loading editor
    • Hetzer. It's a Hetzer

and turret-less TDs are useful for thick frontal armor and excellent gun handling within their firing arc - much better than any turreted vehicle. They also often have superior concealment.

    • KV-2 , prepare yourself!

        Loading editor
    • The first time I saw a KV-2 in my AT 2...I braced myself for impact.

      The shot bounced off o_o

        Loading editor
    • yeah... you're on blitz, so that doesn't count

in WoT, there are KV-2s with the little gun and who are still grinding, but most of the time it's a big derp gun with HE that doesn't care about your armor. It will damage you pretty much no matter where it hits (gun and tracks might absorb it)

        Loading editor
    • He used AP.

Not many people use APCR in Blitz (at least in low/mid tiers) for some reason

        Loading editor
    • KV-2 doesn't carry APCR, only HE and AP

and using AP in KV-2 is a sign of great stupidity.

The KV-2's AP rounds aren't really that good at penetrating, though they can do it for some vehicles. HE is usually the better option.

also, to be more complicated and specific and etc -

there are several round types in real life, and they sort of correspond to those in WoT. In WoT there is HEAT, HE, APCR, AP, and HESH

HESH is basically HE, but British exclusive

HEAT is only a premium round, somewhat low velocity but has less problems with normalization and ricochets, but also doesn't work vs spaced armor

You should know how HE works

AP and APCR are similar, but APCR is faster and more vulnerable to ricochets.

APCR, AP, and HE are all carried as standard rounds on some vehicles.

You can distinguish by the color of the round type indicator thing in WoT - gold is premium ammunition, otherwise it's standard ammo.

      etc

        Loading editor
    • How about black? APCR is black in blitz.

And in real life HESH is explodes a few milliseconds later when compared to HE...this is so that it spreads across the entire armour plate before blowing up, disintegrating the armour plate from the inside and killing the crew.

        Loading editor
    • APCR is the same color as AP, which is grey.

And I know how HESH is different, but in WoT it's basically the same ammo.

The only tank that fires HEAT standerd (and for its gold ammo) is the IKV 103.

The only HEAT round that can go through spaced armor is Jagdpanzer's 170mm HEAT.

        Loading editor
    • Also note that HESH, HEAT, and HE share the same tracer color.

        Loading editor
    • Cool...thanks!

And how come the Jagdpanzer has a 170mm gun? I thought it had a 75mm.

        Loading editor
    • That was only from the Sturmpanzer Bison SPG ._.

I found out it was very enjoyable, especially the satisfying feeling of one shotting unsuspecting tanks :D

    • hahaha

I hate low tier German artillery.

      annoying little ...

WN 8 is compliated though .-.

and of course there are those mods that display a person's WN8 score and so people say 'oh look my team sucks' and commit suicide, or they stat pad, or blah blah blah blah blah i killed someone over that.

Full health Strv 1 ran away from a P.43 bis, letting him cap and losing us the game.

so when an E25 took him down to 100hp i finished the job.

      Usually caculated by damage only

        Loading editor
    • no... it also includes kills and spots and possibly other things, but it evaluates them in terms of damage.

        Loading editor
    • Basically it’s a measure of performance and efficiency.

        Loading editor
    • I usually rely on spot damage for rewards :P

But direct damage is also important :D

        Loading editor
    • I wish ARL 44 had more armour.

I can live with weak sides/rear, but sometimes even the front isn’t enough

        Loading editor
    • Hull-down plz :D

        Loading editor
    • I try to always do as much damage as my tank's HP - give as good as I get. Spotting damage just comes naturally from being in combat situations.

Though I'm also intrigued by the 'true' light playstyle, and I think I could get the hang of it for the Chinese tanks.

M7 line is just going to suck until i reach the T69 though

        Loading editor
    •   Loading editor
    • The T29 isn’t that bad though.

Sure, it’s slow and hull armour is nothing special, but the firepower and turret armour will bounce anything that’s not HE, HESH etc

        Loading editor
    • who said anything about the T29?

it's one of the most difficult opponents at tier 7, given its turret's near-invunerability from head on. If it can go hull down, you might never be able to kill it, even if you're two tiers higher.

T69 line - ending with the T57 heavy - is primarily a light tank line leading to the American autoloaders.

And the M7 is just not my thing. Nor is the T21 light.

      T71 DA should be playable.

        Loading editor
    • In summary, German tanks are the best(I'm looking at you maus!)and the American tanks are reliable but ineffective

        Loading editor
    • ......

No, that is not remotely what I said.

German tanks suffer from extremely large and thin lower front plates, low engine power, and flat armor, as well as commonly slow turning, with the exception of the Leopard and RhmPz tanks (which are extremely thinly armored)

        Loading editor
    • I now have the Black Prince.

I’ve played 5 battles with it and lost all of them because my teammates are noobs who don’t use cover or fire back.

In all of those matches I was the last one to die and had top damage.

        Loading editor
    • Black Prince over there

Black Prince over here however..... ._.

        Loading editor
    • What about it?

I’ve finally won a few battles with it :)

It’s substantially faster than the Churchill VII, which is a relief and for some reason has more protection (I know it has more health but its armour isn’t much better).

However, I do wish the turret and especially the hull front (where the hull machine gun is) was sloped. Also the 17pdr is barely adequate for Tier VI...why it’s on a Tier VII tank is probably for historical reasons.

        Loading editor
    • In WoT...

it is only slightly faster than the churchill, though it does have decent protection and gun handling. Still somewhat lacking against many opponents, especially in terms of speed and power
