Introduction[]

The Shredder is a medium range energy weapon capable of inflicting Root Lockdown.

Strategy[]

The Shredder is an automatic weapon that possesses a high rate of fire and rapid reload/unload times. Additionally, it has innately high effect accumulation, which allows it to Root Lockdown a target relatively quickly when multiple are used in conjunction. Its short reload and unload cycles, in combination with its high burst DPS makes this Tier 3 weapon a recommended choice for robots optimized for brawling and hit-and-run play styles, while also allowing the potential for being mixed with other similar ranged weaponry that can benefit from the Shredder's ability to immobilize targets.

However, being an energy weapon also means that it is unable to bypass physical shields, as well as aegis shields. Apart from that, it also possesses a relatively moderate projectile spread, giving it an effective range of less than 300m. Additionally, being designed as a weapon optimized for burst damage also means that it will perform sub-optimally during sustained engagements, and the robot may be exposed without the ability to return fire subsequently during engagements. When compared to other weaponry that are more suited for both close range (Halo being one example) or medium range (Magnetar being another example) engagements, the Shredder will be outperformed to some extent.

Some robots that can mount several Shredders include Khepri, Blitz or Nether as they can make use of four of these weapons for high burst damage. Other choices include Hades, Hawk, or Angler, since they can use the same weapons with other similar weaponry such as Puncher or Nucleon.

  • The Shredder could be considered an "upgraded" version of the Punisher due to their similarities.
  • The Shredder used to have a firing animation, in which the barrel would retract rapidly between shots in response to recoil. However this was removed in later updates.
