Introduction[]
The Rhino is a heavy robot with 2 medium and 2 light hardpoints.
Ability[]
The Rhino's ability is called Assault Mode. When activated a physical shield deploys in front of the Rhino disabling its medium weapons and increasing its forward speed by 100%. In Assault mode the Rhino's upper torso rotation is limited to about 5 degrees and has a rotation speed of 5 degrees per second, while its lower part also has a rotation speed of 5 degrees per second but without any limits. Similar to the Écu, the Rhino's shield offers protection against energy and kinetic type weapons but does not block rocket (splash) type weapons.
Occasionally two Rhinos will charge headfirst into each other to bypass each other's shield reminiscent of actual rhinos fighting in real life.
Strategy[]
The Rhino's health and firepower are impressively high for a Tier 2 robot. This allows the Rhino's commander to adapt it for a variety of roles, including aggressive beacon capping, assaulting, brawling or leading strike teams.
The Rhino is excellent for leading a charge to capture a beacon or engage a group of enemies, especially in short-range maps such as Shenzhen and Dead City. Capturing center beacon and continuing the assault straight into the enemy's home spawn area usually leads to the enemy being confused and having to change tactics. However, make sure your teammates have your sides and flanks guarded as the Rhino is only effective against enemies on its front - on the other sides it has no shielding to defend itself from incoming fire and it cannot turn its torso fast enough to face the shield at them.
The Rhino can make a great assault unit, yet it requires a different strategy to most other assault-role robots. By hiding behind cover until enemies get near, the Rhino can effectively bait the enemy to try and engage with it. However, once they get within roughly 300m of the Rhino, simply walk out of cover, turn your torso in the direction of the enemy while unloading, then engage Assault Mode the moment your medium weapons run out of ammo. Following this, charge the enemy, firing your light weapons until your medium weapons reload and then repeat until the enemy has been obliterated. This playstyle requires two sets of weapons - the light weapons must have the capability to deal high sustained damage while the medium weapons must specialise in burst damage. This playstyle minimizes the time your Rhino spends without its physical shield, prolonging its time on the battlefield.
The Rhino is also suitable for brawling, but it, like in ambushing, requires a different playstyle to most brawlers. Commanders performing this role must carefully moderate the time spent in each of its modes - Assault Mode should be engaged to close the distance to the target and to provide protection while reloading the weapons. However, for raw damage-dealing, Assault Mode must be disengaged as otherwise the Rhino cannot access its full arsenal of weapons, but be wary of the time spent in this mode as the Rhino will be left without protection.
The Rhino is vulnerable to medium-range splash weapons since the enemy can fire from safety and bypass its physical shield. Something to note while being engaged by splash weapons is to disengage Assault Mode. This is because Assault Mode offers nothing except a speed boost against splash weaponry, and having the physical shield up does not do anything - you are effectively taking double damage by having it active as the physical shield still takes damage too.
Something for Rhino commanders to note is that if the Rhino wishes to rotate its shield in Assault Mode over (roughly) 70 degrees, disengaging Assault Mode, turning the torso and then re-engaging it is actually faster than waiting for the Rhino to turn its shield while staying in Assault Mode. Be warned that this tactic offers less protection than turning the torso exclusively in Assault Mode as the shield will not be up for a period of time.
Counterplay: The Rhino has two obvious gaping flaws - its inability to defend its squishy sides and flanks in Assault Mode means any agile enemy that can quickly flank the Rhino even in a brawl can deal huge damage to it, forcing it to either disengage Assault Mode (and consequently its physical shield) or tank out the damage with its mediocre hull health pool. In addition, its reliance on the physical shield means that explosive and special weaponry can bypass the main source of its defense.
Threat Measure: The Rhino's charge is similar to actual rhinos and is a powerful force when engaging head on making it a high threat against slow-moving enemies. However, due to its slow torso rotation speed and weakness on its flanks, the Rhino poses only a mediocre or even low threat against nimble, mobile Tier 2 robots.
Possible Setups[]
Some effective builds for the Rhino are:
Note: When "Opt." is next to a slot type, it refers to one of the multiple options that can be used in combination with the other weapon(s) slot type(s).
Each slot type is filled with only one particular weapon. For example, if a robot has 3 light all three of those slots are filled with Pinatas, as mixing weapons of the same slot type is not advisable.
Close Range (350m or less)[]
Mid-Range (500-600m)[]
Overview[]
The Rhino is usually used as a brawler and beacon capper, and is seldom equipped with mid-long range weapons. The use for long-range fire isn't recommended as it is outclassed by robots such as the Butch and Fury in this role.
Not Recommended[]
- The use of Punishers and Punisher T weapons on the Rhino is not advised due to it being outclassed and outgunned by all the combinations listed above. However, one can use these as a cheap and relatively effective setup before they can purchase the recommended weapons.
- The use of the Tulumbas and Pin isn't recommended due to the relatively low damage output and the Rhino's inability to jump.
- Using long-range setups isn't advised due to the Rhino being best used as a close-range brawler and beacon capper. Long-range Rhino builds are often, if not always, outgunned by dedicated range robots such as the Fury.

Trivia[]
- This robot has a visible horn on its head, just like the rhino animal.
- It has been noted that the heavy weapon, Nashorn, translates to 'Rhino'. As a result, some refer to the weapon by its old name, Kwk 448mm, to prevent confusion.
- Despite previous claims of the Fury being the tallest bot, it has been disproven in Pixonic's height comparison chart, with the Rhino being the tallest (excluding the RoboDuck).
- This robot, along with the Lancelot, are the slowest heavy robots in the whole game, at a maximum of 30 km/h, when no ability is taken into account.
- However, the Rhino is also the fastest heavy robot, coming in at 60kph when in Assault Mode.
- This robot is one of the 2 heavy robots that can deploy a shield, the other being the Raijin. (Britbots' shields are always active).
- This robot was added on August 21, 2015.
- When activating its ability, it's tower rotation is extremely slow.
- Rhino is a few heavy robot that does not have heavy weapon slot
- The robot appearance has not been changed, prior to its addition.
